ALICE COOPER Adds New Guitarist
April 30, 2007According to ALICE COOPER fan site SickthingsUK, Cooper has recruited new guitarist Jason Hook. Jason has worked with many acts over the years, including BULLETBOYS, STEPHEN PEARCY (RATT),and VINCE NEIL. He also has a solo album out, called "Safety Dunce", which recently won the L.A. Music Award for "Best Independent Instrumental Album." You can check out his MySpace page and listen to him in action.
Damon Johnson left Alice Cooper's band to concentrate on his new band WHISKEY FALLS, who will be touring much of this year.
In other news, Launch Radio Networks is reporting that Alice Cooper will officially publish tomorrow (Tuesday, May 1) his autobiography, titled "Alice Cooper, Golf Monster: A Rock 'N'Roller's 12 Steps To Becoming A Golf Addict". The book is a pull-no-punches account of Alice's life, and it deals candidly with his alcohol problem, which almost ruined him at the height of his fame in the '70s.
Alice told Launch that the book shows how the move from one addiction — in this case, drinking — to another — playing golf almost every day —worked out to his advantage. "'Alice Cooper, Golf Monster' is a story about how Alice became Alice, almost destroyed himself with alcohol, and then got a new life through golf," he said. "And continued the entire rock life — you know, I mean, I still do concerts, I still do everything — without the alcohol. And golf ended up being a good trade-off — I traded one bad habit for another habit, only this habit was a lot healthier."
To promote the book, Alice will appear on "Last Call With Carson Daly" tonight (Monday, April 30) and on "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" on Thursday (May 3).
Alice hits the road for his annual world tour in Santiago, Chile, at the end of this month. He's also working up material for a new album, but with his touring commitments, it probably won't be out this year.
